Modified Schedule This Week

As a reminder, we will have an early release day on Thursday and we will not have school on Friday, February 17th.  Because of this, the schedule for the entire week will be shifted by a day. This will make Monday a "Tuesday"-style schedule, Tuesday a "Wednesday"-style schedule, Wednesday a "Thursday"-style schedule, and Thursday will be a "Friday"-style schedule with shortened class periods.



 





Conferences By Appointment: Wednesday, February 15th

This Wednesday, from 4-6, Waukesha North will hold parent-teacher conferences.  These conferences are available by appointment only.  If you would like to meet, please reserve your spot by clicking here.





Wrapping Up Unit 6: Quadratics

This week, we will be wrapping up our sixth unit of the year.  We will spend Monday's class reviewing with a Kahoot and gathering our thoughts on a "one-pager".  On Tuesday, students will complete the Blackboard assessment, and on Wednesday, students will complete the paper EMPT check-in.  We will then get feedback on our EMPT check-in and make corrections to the work.  The goal here is to make sure we keep the emphasis on learning and understanding the content.  Students who need additional help are welcome to come in during JIT to review.

Thought for the Week Unit 9: Exponential and Logarithmic Functions This week, students will dive into our ninth unit of the year.  We will have three topics to focus on for the week: Graphing exponential and logarithmic functions Evaluating logarithms and exponential functions Properties of logs Throughout the week, we will focus on the fact that logarithms represent a different way to express exponents.  Students will practice translating between the two forms and learn how to expand and simplify logarithmic expressions.  Students are considered "on pace" for the class if they have successfully completed all formative work through section 9.3.

What's Going On? March 13th through March 17th

  Thought for the Week Wrapping Up Unit 7: Rational Functions We will be wrapping up our study of rational functions this week.  This will include a paper summative (worth 1/2 of a summative) and our BlackBoard multiple-choice summative.  Throughout the unit, we have focused on: How to Simplify Rational Expressions Addition and Subtraction of Rational Expressions Multiplication of Rational Expressions Division Long Division Synthetic Division Solving Rational Equations Graphing Rational Equations Vertical & Horizontal Asymptotes Solving and Graphing Rational Inequalities in One Variable At the end of the week, we will start Unit 8 on "Functions and Relations".  During our class on Wednesday/Thursday, we will talk about the composition of functions.

What's Going On? May 8th through May 12th

  Thought for the Week Countdown to Summer Spirit Days Wrapping Up Unit 9: Exponential and Logarithmic Functions We will spend Monday and Tuesday's class periods completing our summative events that go along with unit 9.  During Monday's class, students will complete the paper EMPT check-in.  During class on Tuesday, students will complete the BB9 portion of the summative.  Once this is complete, students will move into our tenth and final unit of the year about Discrete Mathematics.  During our last class period of the week, we will take a look at sequences.
