It's Homecoming Week!

Join in the fun and participate in some of the activities going on this week as we celebrate all things North!


Wrapping Up Unit 1: 1.4-1.8

We will spend Monday's class reviewing how to solve equations by factoring.  On Tuesday, we will review for our second summative of the year that covers sections 1.4 - 1.8.  Topics included on this summative are:

  • Factoring Polynomials
  • Factoring Trinomials
  • Solving Linear Equations
  • Solving Equations by Factoring
As a reminder, students may only complete this summative when the formative work for 1.4-1.8 has been successfully completed.  Students can expect to complete our summative during our third class for the week.  Friday will be a "flex" period for students.  Students who have successfully completed all work for the course through our second summative for the class will be excused.  All other students will report to class on Friday for further support and to ask questions.

Thought for the Week Unit 9: Exponential and Logarithmic Functions This week, students will dive into our ninth unit of the year.  We will have three topics to focus on for the week: Graphing exponential and logarithmic functions Evaluating logarithms and exponential functions Properties of logs Throughout the week, we will focus on the fact that logarithms represent a different way to express exponents.  Students will practice translating between the two forms and learn how to expand and simplify logarithmic expressions.  Students are considered "on pace" for the class if they have successfully completed all formative work through section 9.3.

What's Going On? March 13th through March 17th

  Thought for the Week Wrapping Up Unit 7: Rational Functions We will be wrapping up our study of rational functions this week.  This will include a paper summative (worth 1/2 of a summative) and our BlackBoard multiple-choice summative.  Throughout the unit, we have focused on: How to Simplify Rational Expressions Addition and Subtraction of Rational Expressions Multiplication of Rational Expressions Division Long Division Synthetic Division Solving Rational Equations Graphing Rational Equations Vertical & Horizontal Asymptotes Solving and Graphing Rational Inequalities in One Variable At the end of the week, we will start Unit 8 on "Functions and Relations".  During our class on Wednesday/Thursday, we will talk about the composition of functions.

What's Going On? May 8th through May 12th

  Thought for the Week Countdown to Summer Spirit Days Wrapping Up Unit 9: Exponential and Logarithmic Functions We will spend Monday and Tuesday's class periods completing our summative events that go along with unit 9.  During Monday's class, students will complete the paper EMPT check-in.  During class on Tuesday, students will complete the BB9 portion of the summative.  Once this is complete, students will move into our tenth and final unit of the year about Discrete Mathematics.  During our last class period of the week, we will take a look at sequences.
