Thought for the Week It's Homecoming Week! Join in the fun and participate in some of the activities going on this week as we celebrate all things North! Wrapping Up Unit 1: 1.4-1.8 We will spend Monday's class reviewing how to solve equations by factoring.  On Tuesday, we will review for our second summative of the year that covers sections 1.4 - 1.8.  Topics included on this summative are: Factoring Polynomials Factoring Trinomials Solving Linear Equations Solving Equations by Factoring As a reminder, students may only complete this summative when the formative work for 1.4-1.8 has been successfully completed.  Students can expect to complete our summative during our third class for the week.  Friday will be a "flex" period for students.  Students who have successfully completed all work for the course through our second summative for the class will be excused.  All other students will report to class on Friday for further support and to ask questions.

Thought for the Week Unit 1: Factoring and Solving This week, we will focus on three topics.  On Monday, we will review how to factor polynomials.  On Tuesday, we will factor trinomials.  During our third class period for the week, we will review how to solve linear equations.  Students who are "on pace" with all of their work through lesson 1.7 have the opportunity to earn our second "flex period" for the year.

Thought for the Week Wrapping Up the First Hal of Unit 1 This week, we will wrap up the first half of our first unit.  We will spend the first day of the week reviewing for our first summative.  On the second day of the week, we will complete our first summative on BlackBoard.  Please remember, that all formative work must be successfully completed  before the summative will become available to you!  On the third day of the week, we will work on lesson 1.4: Operations with Polynomials.  The last day of the week is our first flex period .  Students who have turned in the flex-period permission slip, are on-pace, and have successfully completed all formative and summative work through the lesson 1.4 material will be able to flex-out for the class period.  Students who are not on-pace will come to class to catch up on missing work and get individual help on the material.

Thought for the Week Unit 1: Elementary Algebra During the first part of our first class period this week, we will spend some time evaluating the results of our first EMPT (Early Mathematics Placement Test).  Students will see a baseline result for their beginning knowledge and set goals for achievement for the rest of the year.  After that, we will dive in our first unit of the year on "Elementary Algebra".  For this week, we have three lessons scheduled.  For each lesson, students must complete the pre-test.  Students who score a "B" or higher on the pre-test are exempt from participating in the lesson and may move onto the next lesson.  Students who do not meet this criteria will be led through our class notes, will complete a homework assignment, and complete a formative assessment for the lesson.  Students must pass the formative assessment with a "B/C" or higher before they can complete the summative assessment for the unit.  Students...
