Thought for the Week   Unit 7: Rational Functions This week, we will continue our study of rational functions.  The items we will address this week include: 7.3: Adding and Subtracting Rational Expressions Focus on finding a common denominator 7.4: Dividing Polynomials Long Division Synthetic Division 7.5: Solving Rational Expressions Find the common denominator and simplify the expressions to "get rid" of the fractions.

Snow Day! I'm sure that you have heard by now, but we will not have school on Thursday, February 16th.  Enjoy your snow day!  I will see you again on Monday. Thought for the Week Wrapping Up Quadratics (Unit 6) and Beginning Rational Functions (Unit 7) Due to our unexpected snow day, students will spend Monday's class completing the paper EMPT check-in summative assignment.  For this assignment, students will have 8 questions to answer based on some of the major concepts that are included in the EMPT (math placement test). For the rest of the week, we will begin unit 7 where we will explore rational functions.  We will learn how to simplify rational expressions.  For the rest of the week, we will focus on how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide them.

Thought for the Week Modified Schedule This Week As a reminder, we will have an early release day on Thursday and we will not have school on Friday, February 17th.  Because of this, the schedule for the entire week will be shifted by a day. This will make Monday a "Tuesday"-style schedule, Tuesday a "Wednesday"-style schedule, Wednesday a "Thursday"-style schedule, and Thursday will be a "Friday"-style schedule with shortened class periods.   Conferences By Appointment: Wednesday, February 15th This Wednesday, from 4-6, Waukesha North will hold parent-teacher conferences.  These conferences are available  by appointment only .  If you would like to meet, please reserve your spot by  clicking here . Wrapping Up Unit 6: Quadratics This week, we will be wrapping up our sixth unit of the year.  We will spend Monday's class reviewing with a Kahoot and gathering our thoughts on a "one-pager".  On Tuesday, students will complete the Blackb...

Thought for the Week Unit 6: Quadratic Functions This week, our primary focus will be on graphing quadratic functions.  We will spend the first two days of the week graphing quadratic equations.  Since quadratics will produce a "U"-shape parabola, we can use the idea of symmetry to help speed along our graphing progress.  We will also take a look at graphing quadratic inequalities.  Students who have successfully completed the formative work for 6.5 and 6.7 will be able to earn a "Flex Day" for Friday's class.
