Thought for the Week This Week's Schedule This week, we will have a four-day school-week.  That means that we won't have a "Monday"-style day.  Everything will be moved up by a day.  This means that Monday will be a "Tuesday"-style day, Tuesday will be a "Wednesday"-style day, Wednesday will be a "Thursday"-style day, and Thursday will be a "Friday"-style day. Unit 8: Functions and Relations This week, our primary topic will be "Ellipses and Hyperbolas" as well as "Parabolas".  We will focus on how to interpret an equation, write an equation, and graph each of these conic sections.

What's Going On? March 20th through March 24th

Thought for the Week Unit 8: Functions and Relations This week, we will take on sections 8.2, 8.3, and 8.4.  In these three sections, we will review how to find the inverse of a function (swap the x and the y), how to graph polynomials, and how to graph and write equations for circles.  Students will earn the ability to flex out of our final class before spring break by successfully completing all formative and summative work through section 8.4

Thought for the Week Wrapping Up Unit 7: Rational Functions We will be wrapping up our study of rational functions this week.  This will include a paper summative (worth 1/2 of a summative) and our BlackBoard multiple-choice summative.  Throughout the unit, we have focused on: How to Simplify Rational Expressions Addition and Subtraction of Rational Expressions Multiplication of Rational Expressions Division Long Division Synthetic Division Solving Rational Equations Graphing Rational Equations Vertical & Horizontal Asymptotes Solving and Graphing Rational Inequalities in One Variable At the end of the week, we will start Unit 8 on "Functions and Relations".  During our class on Wednesday/Thursday, we will talk about the composition of functions.

Thought for the Week JUNIORS: ACT ON TUESDAY, MARCH 7TH PreCollege Math: Wrapping Up Unit 7 on Rational Functions During class on Monday, students will take a look at how to graph rational functions.  Tuesday will count as our "Flex Day" for the week.  On Wednesday/Thursday, we will learn about how to examine rational inequalities in one variable.  We will wrap up the week by reviewing what we have learned throughout unit 7.  Students should be prepared for our summative assessments during the following week.
