Thought for the Week Unit 3: Linear Equations and Inequalities This week, we will focus on translating statements into mathematical equations.  We will also apply this knowledge to setting up and solving "mixture"-type problems.  Additionally this week, we will talk about how to write and solve linear inequalities. Students who are on-pace and have successfully completed all of our work through lesson 3.5 by 7:30am on Friday may be eligible to earn a "flex day".  Students who have not mastered proficiency in these sections will come to class to work one-on-one to improve their level of understanding.

Thought for the Week Modified Schedule Unit 3: Linear Functions, Equations, and Inequalities This week, we will be starting our third unit of the year.  Our focus for this shortened week will be on writing equations of lines in slope-intercept form as well as point-slope form.  We will also take some time to investigate how to model data with linear functions.  We will examine how we can determine of a set of data has a positive, negative, or no correllation.  Due to our shortened week, there will not be a chance to earn a flex period.

Thought for the Week   Reviewing Chapter 2: Introduction to Graphs and Functions For the first two class periods of the week, we will be reviewing all of the content that we have learned about in unit 2.  This includes analyzing different types of graphs, calculating slope and distance, and graphing.  We will review how to determine if a relation is a function.  Additionally, we will reexamine parent functions and some of the stretches and translations they can undergo in order to create a new function.

Thought for the Week Pre-College Math Unit 2: Introduction to Graphs and Functions This week, we will spend time working with functions.  Students will reacquaint themselves with function notation and rediscover how to determine if a relation is a function.  We will end of the week by exploring "transformations of functions".  We have already spent some time analyzing "parent functions", so we will be expanding on this base of knowledge.  Students who are "on pace" and have successfully completed all of our lessons through section 2.6 may be eligible to "flex out" of class on Friday.

Thought for the Week Unit 2: Introduction to Graphs and Functions This week, we will start our second unit of the year.  During this week, we will investigate some different ways that we can graphically represent data.  We will also spend some time exploring how to graph linear and non-linear equations and take a closer look at slope.  Students are considered "on pace" for the course if they have successfully completed all work for sections 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3 by Friday.
